SBC Summit Europe builds on Amsterdam move with regulated markets focus

SBC Summit Europe to focus on businesses, regulators and policymakers.

SBC Summit Europe will bring together the businesses, regulators and policymakers shaping the future of regulated gambling across the continent when it takes place at RAI Amsterdam from 19–21 April 2027.

Originally announced in February this year, the heart of the new event will be more than 3,000 representatives from operators active in regulated European markets, supported by a major programme to increase participation from national and international gaming regulators.

The aim is to create a meeting point for Europe’s regulated gambling industry, bringing together the people responsible for operating, overseeing and developing licensed markets at a time of significant regulatory and commercial change across the continent.

SBC CEO & Founder Rasmus Sojmark said: “Europe is not one gambling market. It is a collection of regulated markets, each at a different stage of development and each facing its own questions around taxation, advertising, player protection, changing consumer behaviour, AI, technology and channelisation.

“That is exactly why bringing these markets together is so valuable.

“We want SBC Summit Europe to be where the people running regulated gaming businesses can sit alongside the people regulating them and other stakeholders in the regulatory ecosystem. That means major European operators, strong national brands, regulators, associations, policymakers and the wider industry all in Amsterdam at the same time.”

SBC is targeting 3,000+ operator representatives, with a particular emphasis on increasing participation from licensed operators across Europe’s major regulated jurisdictions.

The event will also leverage SBC’s recent deal with IAGR (International Association of Gaming Regulators) and IMGL (International Masters of Gaming Law), as well as building relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations, to bring representatives from gaming authorities across Europe to Amsterdam, creating opportunities for direct dialogue between regulators and the businesses operating within their markets.

Sojmark added: “Regulation has become one of the defining issues for the European gambling industry. We are seeing very different approaches being taken across the continent, and the consequences of those decisions are becoming increasingly clear with a fragmented market as a result.

“There are jurisdictions achieving strong channelisation and creating sustainable regulated industries, while others are having to confront the growth of offshore gambling and ask whether the balance is right.

“We need places where those experiences can be shared openly. What can one market learn from another? Which approaches are working? How do we protect players while ensuring the regulated industry remains competitive? And how do regulators and operators work together to keep consumers inside the licensed market?

“Those conversations are much more useful when you have the people responsible for making the decisions in the room.”

The conference programme will reflect the diversity of Europe’s commercial and regulatory landscape, examining established markets alongside recently regulated and evolving jurisdictions.

Discussions will explore issues including channelisation, taxation, advertising restrictions, player protection, affordability, black-market competition, licensing, compliance and the impact of new technology, while dedicated market-focused sessions will allow delegates to examine individual European jurisdictions in greater depth.

The programme will also create opportunities for regulators from different countries to exchange ideas and compare approaches, while giving operators the chance to understand how regulatory thinking is developing beyond the markets in which they currently operate.

Alongside this, SBC Summit Europe will examine the commercial and technological forces influencing the next generation of regulated European gaming, including compliance tech, payment systems, sports betting platforms and data, casino, marketing and changing player behaviour.

All these elements will also be featured in the extensive exhibition space hosting the suppliers and technology businesses supporting licensed operators across Europe, while an extensive networking programme will connect operators, regulators, policymakers, suppliers, affiliates and associations throughout the three-day event.

SBC Managing Director Andrew McCarron explained the ambition is to establish Amsterdam as an annual meeting point for the regulated European industry.

“Europe needs a meeting place that reflects what the industry actually looks like today,” he said.

“That means putting regulated markets first. It means bringing the leading licensed operators from across Europe together. And crucially, it means making sure regulators are part of the conversation rather than discussing regulation without them.

“If we are successful in bringing those things together in Amsterdam, SBC Summit Europe can become an incredibly important date in the calendar for European gaming.”
