SB Betting: Preparing to explore more African countries

SB Betting Software is ready to explore more countries with Premierbet, a pan-African operator whose team used the lockdown period to make a major upgrade to its platform.

Speaking exclusively to SBC News, SB Betting Software COO Michal Glowacki (pictured) was full of praise for the operator’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. “Operating across Africa, Premierbet was hit by the global lockdown,” he admitted.

“Yet, they used this period to complete a major platform upgrade with us. And now, we are ready to help them open more and more operations throughout Africa.

“After getting stability in Nigeria as part of our pan-African operations with Premierbet, we would love to start exploring the next countries. With multiple channels of sale, promotions engine and customised commission system, I feel we can fit into every country in Africa.”

Glowacki also shared an update on another of SB Betting Software’s long-term partners. “Operating in Nigeria, Merrybet has strengthened its online position and was able to keep going on the retail part,” he explained. “It is one of the two most stable brands across Naija.”

SB Betting Software is preparing to exhibit at this month’s SBC Digital Summit Africa (6-7 October), where it is doubling up as a Bronze Sponsor of the event. 

When asked what he would be promoting at the show, Glowacki replied: “There is no single thing to promote. With our experience we can be proud of the platform in general: integration with multiple feeds providers, cashout, virtual, complex promotions engine etc.

“The solutions are available through desktop and mobile devices, terminals, handheld POS. To compete in Africa our clients need a versatile and experienced provider, ready to adapt quickly to the new reality we might be facing soon.”

As the discussion turned to innovation, Glowacki admitted that there had been an unwanted star of the show in 2020. “The biggest innovation of this year is, unfortunately, the pandemic. It has changed the way we look at sports and betting. 

“Virtual betting didn’t really boom during the worldwide lockdown, we were all looking at the Bundesliga restart keeping fingers crossed for its success, and hoping that major leagues would follow shortly. 

“It has clearly shown that the primary interest of players is real sport. I am absolutely confident that the ability to bet again is what everyone will remember from 2020.”

However, Glowacki concluded by offering some words of advice for betting and gaming businesses trying to mitigate the impact of COVID-19. “The key factor in the battle against the virus is common sense,” he said. “We all know it is a real threat, but keeping a social distance, avoiding the crowd and keeping self-hygiene is all we can do. 

“At our company, we also do a daily temperature check on office arrival. With regular tests for the sportsmen, I strongly believe the industry can go through these difficult times.”
