Gaming in Germany is back with full force for another annual edition of an in-depth analysis of the ever-complicated German gambling market.
Taking place on 10 November at the DoubleTree Hilton Ku’damm in Berlin, the conference promises to explore the most urgent challenges that Germany is facing on its path towards sustainability.
Last year’s edition highlighted some really pressing issues, such as worryingly low channelisation rates and a rampant black market that was in part inadvertently aided by heavily restrictive gambling regulations.
It will be interesting to hear what progress has been made on all the above, given that ex-Secretary General of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) Maarten Haijer previously stated that “it will be difficult for Germany to move forward compared to other EU countries” based on the discussions held at the Conference in 2025.
And speaking of progress, the ongoing evaluation of the 2021 State Gambling Treaty is set to be discussed – a major development in the jurisdiction.
It wouldn’t be an industry event without conversation around prediction markets too, with the sector’s viability in Germany and Austria also set to be debated.
Key figures to attend Gaming in Germany
Gaming in Germany is set to welcome speakers from a plethora of high-profile organisations within the industry.
Chief among them will be senior representatives from the regulator, the GGL; Dr Damir Boehm, Chief Executive Officer at Germany-focused Tipwin, and Alexander Müller, Member of the Executive Board at the Free Democratic Party (FDP).
The event will be split into six blocks, with C-suite and senior staff from a variety of firms within the sector.
Topics covered within certain blocks will include the abovementioned update on the ongoing evaluation of the 2021 State Gambling Treaty, the current state and threat of the black market, developments in both Austria and Germany, and opportunities for potential new products.
