Sports data and streaming firm FeedConstruct has partnered with the Malta Premier League (MPL) for the start of the new 2024/25 season.
Beginning with this year, the MPL will introduce a new format of 12 clubs competing in an Opening and Closing Round, producing additional playoffs depending on the clubs’ positions.
The MPL represents the highest level of professional football on the island, with roots that can be traced back to 1909 when it was known as the First Division. Current champions are the Ħamrun Spartans, who took the title for the 10th time last season, but other notable teams also include the Sliema Wanderers and Floriana – having won the cup 26 times each.
MPL is organised by the Malta Football Association (MFA), which also recently unveiled its own partnership with sports betting and gaming group, Meridian Bet – becoming the title sponsor of the Maltese FA Trophy.
Commenting on that, Bjorn Vassallo, President of MFA, stated: “Our partnership with Meridianbet, a company with a deep-rooted presence in Malta, for the sponsorship of the FA Trophy, is an ideal fit, as the Association, through its domestic competitions, continues to attract a sporting culture whilst creating community engagement through football.”
