Spelinspektionen & UKGC deepen market intelligence collaboration

Swedish gambling authority Spelinspektionen‘s industry seminar held at the Vasateatern in Stockholm has concluded with a renewed collaboration between Sweden and the UK.

Continuing their partnership which was first instigated in November 2019, Spelinspektionen and the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) will maintain a close partnership for the exchange of information between the authorities.

The renewal was co-signed by UKGC’s Deputy CEO Sarah Gardner and her colleague, Spelinspektionen Director General Camilla Rosenberg.

“Although our markets differ, we have many common areas where we can learn from each other and exchange experiences. By working together, we can achieve our common goals of a healthy and safe gambling market,” said Rosenberg.

“The gambling market is global and it is important to have good relations in order to cooperate with other gambling authorities,” the Swedish regulator further added.

Spelinspektionen has active memorandum of understanding agreements in place with several other gambling authorities, including the Netherlands (KSA), Malta (MGA) and Gibraltar.

To further strengthen its efforts towards a safer gambling environment, the Swedish gambling authority also recently signed an agreement with the International Betting Integrity Association, which allows for stricter monitoring of sports betting integrity across the sector.
