Planet Sport has moved to bolster its betting content proposition, acquiring tip platform Tipstrr, which will be integrated into its wider portfolio of sites.
The Leeds-based company aims to develop ‘strong betting content and data product’ via the takeover, whilst also gaining access to Tipstrr’s active user base and sports betting tipsters and an opportunity to showcase its betting partners to a wider audience.
Moving forward, Planet Sport will integrate Tipstrr’s ‘tools, properties and attributes’, with the site serving as a tips platform for sports betting experts, verifying and processing 100,000 tips per month.
Tipstrr Founder, Damien Fearn, said: “At Tipstrr we’ve always focussed on creating great products and tools in the sports betting industry. Joining Planet Sport allows us to reach a much wider audience and offer genuine value to more sports fans across the globe.
“The fit between the two companies was clear, even very early on in our discussions. The Tipstrr team and I are looking forward to growing as part of the Planet Sport network.”
Tipstrr’s other activities include tracking tips from the point they are made and recording the ongoing and historically profitability of selections, with odds updated in real-time for better price comparison and bet decisions.
Following the integration, Tipstrr will sit alongside Planet Sport’s existing holdings of TeamTalk, Planet Rugby and Football365.
Barrie Jarrett, CEO of Planet Sport, added: “We have been following Tipstrr for a while and had previously identified them as a great fit to enhance Planet Sport’s D2C and B2B offerings in and around the sports betting market.
“We are delighted to now welcome Damien and the great Tipstrr team to Planet Sport and we are looking forward to the acquisition delivering further growth for the business in 2023.”
The first major development for Planet Sport in 2023, the acquisition follows an active 12 months for the company, which has initiated a successful international rollout from its Yorkshire HQ.
Notably, Planet Sport expanded its media services to include comprehensive localised content solutions for Canadian markets, and also began offering its B2C and B2B services in India.
