Tipstrr, the online betting tips service, announced a new sports tipster-focused cryptocurrency yesterday, at the Betting on Football 2018 conference.
Named Tipcoin, it has been launched to alleviate a number of issues that had been identified by the West Midlands-based firm.
Andy Jones, Tipstrr Technical Director, described the thought process behind the decision: “So the biggest barrier our users have, is the fact that the more bets you place, the more effort it is. You might be going to the supermarket but you need to place that bet. Time is important, but if you follow 50 tipsters you can make a lot of money, if you have the time.
“So we’re breaking that barrier down now, by launching a new cryptocurrency that will enable us to allow for automated betting based on tipsters.
“What it does is allows users to create their own hub of betting syndicates, based on their own risks, choose their own staker plans, choose their own risks and rewards.
“The way that the cryptocurrency comes in to it, we’re gonna be offering a way for users to bid for unlimited access across the site each week. At the start of the week users can spend Tipcoins, they can bid on the amount of Tipcoins, and the top 10% – there or there about – will get full access across the sites.
“So that’s gonna mean the people that want it most, the people who bid the most amount of money, will get access to every single tipster, from that they can then use parameters to decide which bets they place, which will be automatically placed.”
Jones also spoke enthusiastically about this year’s Betting on Football, and why he thought the conference was ideally suited to Tipstrr’s big announcement.
“It’s got the perfect audience for us – there’s a lot of people interested in betting on football! It’s been a really enjoyable experience so far and we’ve had the chance to speak to a lot of interesting people.”
