Leading industry platform and software provider Playtech Plc has partnered with ‘Girls in Tech’ a global organisation focused on promoting women and diversity within technology-led businesses.

The organisation has announced its latest chapter in Gibraltar, with Playtech acting as its lead sponsor. Playtech is partnering with Girls in Tech Gibraltar as part of its commitment to increase diversity and inclusion in the gaming industry.

The Girls in Tech Gibraltar launch will take place in the La Sala Sapphire Bar on deck 3 of the Sunborn Hotel from 18:45 on Thursday June 1st, 2017.

The event is open to guests from both the public and private sectors in Gibraltar and will feature keynote addresses from Adriana Gascoigne, Global founder and CEO, Girls in Tech, and Cristina Turbatu, Managing Director, Girls in Tech Gibraltar. Kaiane Aldorino Lopez, Her Worship the Mayor of Gibraltar GMH, will also deliver her support for the organisation.

Central to the event will be a panel discussion featuring four accomplished leaders including Shimon Akad, Playtech COO, who will explore and discuss gender diversity and technology and why a diverse business is crucial in creating and sustaining successful and socially responsible organisations.

Cristina Turbatu, Managing Director, Girls in Tech Gibraltar, said: “Gibraltar is a key, internationally focused hub with technology playing a key role in both public and private sectors. Girls in Tech is here to deliver a successful and motivational platform for women to enter and succeed in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

“It is important for us to recognise that change must happen on all levels, regardless of gender, which is why the organisation provides its programmes and events as all-inclusive, meaning that both men and women are welcome to engage and participate”.

Shimon Akad, COO of Playtech said: We’re delighted to be able to partner with the Gibraltar chapter of Girls in Tech. This is a first initiative of its kind here. We have very strong ties to Gibraltar and its business community and are great believers in diversity and inclusion. We strongly believe that a diverse workplace creates a highly engaging environment and a successful business.

“With more than 5,000 employees in 17 global locations we believe that diversity and inclusion makes us who we are and plays a huge part in helping us continue to grow as a successful, socially responsible, global organisation. We are very excited to partner with Girls in Tech to spread this message across Gibraltar and the wider gaming industry.”
