European ‘real-money’ fantasy sports operator Mondogoal has been acquired by Vancouver-based DFS systems provider Global Daily Fantasy Sports Inc (GDFSI) for an undisclosed fee.
Last week, GDFSI management released a statement confirming the acquisition of Mondogoal and its related assets and intellectual properties.
Founded in 2014 by Shergul Arshad, Mondogoal was one of the first companies to focus on expanding daily fantasy sports within the European betting markets. Last December, Mondogoal management announced that it had changed its business strategy as the company would solely focus on B2B client services.
GDFSI management detailed that the acquisition would help the company expand within the European market, in particular Italy, where Mondogoal has an established partnership with leading betting operators Lottomatica Scommesse and Sisal SPA.
“The acquisition of the Mondogoal operating assets and new agreements with Lottomatica and Sisal position us well to grow our business in one of our key European markets,” states Darcy Krogh CEO of Global Daily Fantasy Sports Inc.
“Italy is one of the largest online gaming markets in Europe and one of the first to establish itself in the daily fantasy space. This is a strategic investment for Global and we look forward to working with Lottomatica and Sisal to build out a strong network in Italy with our innovative platform.”
Following its Italian market entry, GDFSI management detailed that it would begin to look for new European media and betting partners as the firm looks to expand its DFS network within new territories
