MDJS updates tender terms for Morocco lottery and sportsbook contract

La Marocaine des Jeux et des Sports (MDJS) – Morocco’s state-owned lottery operator, has published an updated procurement notice for bids to participate in its tender to manage its lottery, sports betting and gaming activities.

This January, MDJS alerted global lottery stakeholders that it would launch an international tender to find a new operating partner for its flagship LOTO Maroc and Cote & Sports brands.

MDJS requires a new operating partner, as last year Intralot SPA announced that it would cut short its Morocco supplier agreement, as part of an ongoing group restructure of the Athens-listed technology group.

Updating the tender’s schedule, MDJS has extended its tender submission window for participating bids from 4 April to 31 May 2022.

The winning party is expected to take charge of the MDJS operating contract from 1 January 2024 – instead of the previous date of 1 January 2023.

“This extension of time is in line with the MDJS’ constant willingness to establish a trustworthy and sustainable partnership with the global community of operators and technology providers.” –  MDJS statement read.

Applicants must submit separate proposals outlining their capabilities and ambitions to operate MDJS’ sports betting (fixed odds, pari-mutual and virtual sports) and lottery (draw-based and instant games) services.

The tender will accept individual and combined bids to operate MDJS lottery and sports betting brands.

MDJS management contract is scheduled for an initial period of eight years, starting on 1st January 2024, and is extendable for two additional years under certain conditions.
