Ex-Catena Media CEO becomes tech lead at a fintech firm

Former Catena Media CEO Michael Daly has joined cashless payments provider Marker Trax as its Chief Operating Officer.

The new appointee’s previous record in the gambling industry may hint at growing interest in the gaming sector from Marker Trax.

In addition to Catena, Daly was at some point also part of a number of gaming technology companies, such as GAN where he was Executive Vice President for North American between 2015-2018.

Reporting directly to President Charlie Skinner, Daly will help with the company’s expansion strategy, which includes an evolving product portfolio of cashless credit solutions for clients across a multitude of verticals.

Also leveraging his technology expertise, the new Chief Operating Officer will assist Marker Trax with the integration of its cashless solution to Euronet Worldwide – an electronic payments service provider based in the US.

Skinner commented: “Michael’s track record of driving technological innovation and business growth in the gaming industry, both land-based and online, makes him the ideal leader to help scale our operations.

“His expertise in both traditional gaming and digital platforms will be invaluable as we continue to revolutionise cashless gaming solutions.”

The worlds of payments and gambling have started to collide more frequently over the years, especially with the up-and-coming of igaming and mobile play.

An increase in player demand for convenient deposits, withdrawals and payment options has attracted a significant influx of fintech companies.

In a similar fashion, Marker Trax partnered with Graton Casino and Resort in Northern California for the provision of its cashless and digital wallet solutions.

As stated above, Dally’s experience and connections within the gaming world may prove useful to the company as it looks for commercial opportunities in the sector.

As well as his tenure at Catena and GAN, Daly also worked at Bally Technologies for over six years. He also has experience of the payments world, however, working as CEO of Automated Cash Systems, a casino-focused paytech firm, from 2014-2015.
