William Hill makes ‘important power move’ with TrueLayer partnership

William Hill has enhanced its payments processing capabilities by partnering with TrueLayer, an open banking platform.

The bookmaker, one of the oldest in the UK and now part of the 888 Holdings international gaming group, will utilise TrueLayer’s payments product to offer instant pay-ins and payouts to its British customers.

William Hill is aiming to strengthen of its overall customer experience via the partnership by speeding up customer withdrawals whilst also meeting PSD2 and SCA compliance requirements.

TrueLayer is confident that open banking presents key opportunities and benefits to the UK gambling sector, as well as the wider European market in general, citing research it has conducted in partnership with YouGov.

The research found that ‘eight in 10 European players consider quick payouts important when choosing a betting provider’, with more 55% of igaming customers saying they would likely switch to an operator offering instant payments. 

The partnership with William Hill comes at a transformative time for the operator as it nears completion of its second full year under the 888 umbrella, having been acquired by the company in September 2021.
