Brazil on Michael Jack’s agenda as new Sportingtech CTO

Michael Jack has joined Sportingtech’s global expansion plans, as the sports betting solutions supplier eyes up emerging opportunities in Latin America.

The company’s new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will take on the leadership position for the company’s technological development, with the ultimate goal being to provide a solid backing for expansion into regulated markets.

Emerging markets – particularly the looming regulation of a national Brazilian federal betting sector – have become a key focus for Sportingtech. The company aims to be ‘ahead of the curve’ in such markets, leveraging in particular a strong technological foundation.

Jack remarked: “Now is an exciting time to join Sportingtech in such a pivotal moment in the company’s growth. I look forward to working with the diverse, highly-experienced team and contributing to its continued success going forward as it continues its expansion into thriving regulated global markets.”

The new hire’s previous experience has included tenures at prominent betting and gaming suppliers, most recently working as CTO of Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) after filling the roles of Director of Engineering and Director of Architecture at the firm. Other notable companies on his resume include OpenBet and Light & Wonder.

As stated above, Latin America will be a core focus of Jack’s CTO responsibilities, as it is for the rest of the Sportingtech c-level team and much of the international betting and gaming sector at large.

Explaining the company’s Brazilian ambitions to SBC earlier this summer, Sportingtech Business Development Manager Brazil, Jhuana Lamas, emphasised that the country will be “incredibly lucrative once legislation is passed”.

Stakeholders with an interest in Brazil heard some positive news this week as the federal Betting Regulation Bill, which will lay out the framework for a national market, was passed by the Chamber of Deputies and moved onto the Senate for approval.
