Football streaming websites to be banned from UK browsers

Streaming the football in the UK has just gotten that much trickier.

A court order has deemed that a number of live football streaming sites, including the popular Rojadirecta, LiveTV, and Drakulastream have been placed on a blocklist following pressure from the Premier League, and the FA. These blocks will be gradually added, bringing the total list to 128 separate websites

Additional sites accused of aiding piracy are expected to be added in the coming months, these include more conventional and typical torrenting sites. Copyright owners have been urging the UK courts to take charge of this situation for some time.

The football associations that had the sites banned have an option to add other sites to the list should they emerge, as is so often in the case in such situations.

The Publishers Association was also celebrating this week after some of its own problem sites were blocked. Internet service providers will no longer show various eBook sharing sites.

These blocks are wide ranging in their content, with the orders already banning renowned torrenting site; The Pirate Bay, and Torrentz.io.
