Sky Bet continues BHF commitment with injury time initiative

Sky Bet is giving £10,000 to the British Heart Foundation (BHF) for every match-winning goal scored in added time in the Sky Bet EFL this season.

There were a joint-record 90 winners scored in the 90th minute and beyond across the Championship, League One and League Two last season.

In May, Sky Bet and the BHF teamed up with several footballers who have been impacted by life-threatening heart conditions in their Every Minute Matters campaign to raise £3m and recruit 270,000 football fans to learn life-saving CPR.

The campaign has already proved successful, with Sky Bet donating £380,000 to fund the essential work of the charity and over 50,000 people learning CPR since the campaign launched.

The pair emphasised that the donation will only include decisive goals scored in stoppage time, with games that finish with a two or more-goal difference not being included.

Their statement continued: “There are more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK each year, equating to at least five every 90 minutes. Each minute that passes without CPR reduces the chance of survival by up to 10%.

“Tragically, less than one in 10 people survive, often because those around them lack the skills or confidence to perform CPR.”

The operator also included a link to find more information on how to earn CPR in just 15 mins: https://www.bhf.org.uk/revivr.
