Payment simplicity biggest deciding factor for bettors in Brazil

Payment simplicity biggest deciding factor for bettors in Brazil

Around half of Brazilian bettors will choose bookmakers that offer simple online payments compared to more convoluted options, a study by Zimpler has shown.

The survey of 800 respondents highlighted that 49% of Brazilians value simple payment methods as a key factor when choosing which bookmaker to place a bet with.

Furthermore, a total of 37% of the surveyed said that they’ve changed the sites they’ve been betting with due to delays in payment processing when it comes to deposits and withdrawals.

“Optimising the user experience is crucial to be competitive as the online gaming market expands in Brazil,” Zimpler commented.

Some of the other factors that most frequently get weighted in when deciding on a betting provider include a good reputation (for 37% of respondents), legislation compliant (33%), and a wide selection of betting markets on offer (27%).

Johan Strand, CEO of Zimpler, said: “The online gaming market is facing a crucial moment of expansion in Brazil, and offering maximum guarantees of secure and instant transactions becomes a fundamental element for companies that want to succeed in the country.

“The user must have the best possible experience and the site must adapt to the preferences of local bettors, always with high quality guarantees and simpler processes when making deposits and instant withdrawals of profits.”

The biggest deal breakers for sports bettors in Brazil are delays in the transaction process (18%) and weak security protocols on the platform itself (17%).

“Having a payment platform that adapts to complex or evolving regulatory environments is essential to succeed in an industry as competitive as online betting,” Strand added.

“Zimpler’s cutting-edge payment platform, as well as its team specialised in fraud prevention, have already proven their value in the European betting market, and this experience could make a big difference at a crucial moment of expansion of the gaming scene in Brazil.”

The study further showed that 34% of all the surveyed bettors are placing a bet more than once a week.

Brazil is in the last stages of launching its regulated sports betting market, with a total of 113 foreign and local companies having applied for a licence in the last month.
