OpenBet reveals over 140m bets processed during Euro 2024

OpenBet has registered a strong betting performance during the UEFA EURO 2024 tournament, with more than 140 million processed bets across all channels.

The tournament drove increased betting engagement at all stages, all the way through to the final where Spain secured a record fourth European title with a win over Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions. The total value wagered peaked at more than £850m during the month-long event.

More data from OpenBet suggests that England and Spain were the most backed sides in the Outright Winner market throughout the majority of the knockout stages. But there was a point where Austria caused some turbulence too when it managed to shorten the odds from 40-1 to 16-1 after claiming victory over the Netherlands and finishing at the top of Group D.

This resulted in Austria taking over 20% of Outright Winner bets on 25 and 26 June – which England only achieved from the last four in comparison.

Looking at the final, the game attracted more than £73m in wagers, with OpenBet’s trading team generating odds, delivering trading content and providing managed trading services through risk and liability management for operators.

Additionally, bet slips that were generated across the global customer base for SportCast’s BetBuilder had also increased 470% compared to the 2021 tournament.

Florian Diederichsen, CTO at OpenBet, said: “Euro 2024 captured the imaginations of sports fans and bettors across Europe, with OpenBet truly ‘bringing it home’ for operators.

“Our robust platform technology once again played a match-winning role in processing a significant volume of bets and delivering a reliable and safe betting experience for our customers.

“We delivered new records in bets processed per-minute and overall bets placed for operators and are proud to play a key role in their success towards continued growth.”
