McBookie.com supports home team Dundee Stars

McBookie.com has become the official betting partner of professional ice hockey team, the Trade-Mart Dundee Stars.

The deal, which covers the forthcoming season, will also see the Dundee-based bookmaker’s branding showcased on the team’s socks.

Paul Petrie, McBookie.com spokesman, commented: “We are delighted to be able to sponsor the Dundee Stars for the forthcoming season and look forward to offering the best odds to the fans of the Elite Ice Hockey League.”

The Scotland-focused online sportsbook has also detailed that it will be offering odds of 16/1 that the Dundee Stars win the Championship and 5/1 that they can finish in the top five.

“It is great to add another local business to the Dundee Stars roster and we look forward to working with the McBookie team throughout the season,” added Michael Ward, Commercial Director at the Dundee Stars.

McBookie, launched in 2009, currently also sponsors the East Region Midlands Junior League.

Petrie recently spoke with SBC News about the operator’s ‘regional’ approach which has proven to be a huge success.

He said: “Once we got up and running, we realised that unless we had £50m in the bank to compete against Paddy Power, bet365, Ladbrokes, William Hill etc, it was just impossible. We made a decision to just focus on the Scottish market and not even bother with the rest of the UK in terms of marketing.

“Once customers come in, because we still do get customers from outside of Scotland, if they prove to be a good customer, they get treated the same as a Scottish customer, dare I say. It’s not a case of Scotland against the rest of the UK, or Scotland against the rest of the world!”

Petrie concluded: “The thing with betting is that consistency is the key. What you can’t have is a customer coming on to the site one week and the price being there, and then coming back the following week and the price is there, and so on.”
