Betsson has been named an official sponsor of the International Handball Federation’s (IHF) Women’s World Championship 2023.
The deal will see the Swedish operator’s branding featured on LED screens throughout the arenas that will stage games.
Betsson PR Manager, Robin Olenius, said: “This sponsorship aligns with our commitment to promoting and supporting women’s sports. We hope that through our support of the tournament and our global presence, we will help to increase the excitement globally.”
The tournament will be jointly hosted by Sweden, Norway, and Denmark from 29 November to 17 December 2023, and will see a total of 32 national teams take part.
Norway won the most recent edition of the championship in 2021, seeing off France 29-22 in the final.
“We are happy to welcome Betsson to the 26th IHF Women’s World Championship,” added IHF President Hassan Moustafa. “We have partnered up with online gaming company Betsson. Together, we set a clear aim – to excite.”
The gambling firm has a history of sponsoring women’s sports, and last year served as the exclusive sportsbook partner for the Copa América Femenina 2022 – the women’s edition of CONMEBOL’s Copa América football tournament.
The year prior, Betsson was also the official regional sponsor for the men’s CONMEBOL Copa América 2021.
Betsson is also the main sponsor for the women’s football teams of Athletico Paranaense and Club Atletico Boca Juniors.
