Paddy Power appoints Nigel Farage as face of Trump recruitment

Paddy Power politics has announced Nigel Farage as the face of its recruitment drive to fill the vacant ‘Head of Trump Betting’ vacancy.

The bookmaker revealed the move in a witty blog posted on 1 April, which led many to believe it was merely an April Fools joke. Confusion reigned supreme but Paddy Power have since confirmed that it’s deadly serious about the move.

The blog jests: “After a disastrous year of political cock-ups – two words for you: Brexit and Trump – we are determined not to make the same mistakes again in 2017, and have turned to a political heavyweight to guide us.”

It continues: “We’ve decided to recruit Nigel Farage, who correctly predicted the results of both the EU Referendum and the US Presidential Election, to revitalise the traders’ approach to political betting.”

It also quotes Farage as saying: “So Paddy Power lost $4.5 million (£3.6 million) on Trump’s election last year – another example of EU-based idiocy. Clearly, they need help – and independence from the anti-Trump narrative that has dogged their thinking recently.”

The operator services over 100 markets dedicated to Donald Trump’s reign in its dedicated ‘Trump Hub’ which was launched in February. The role is still published on its corporate site and on its LinkedIn, with applicants required to have the following competencies…

Technical Competencies:

  • Excellent betting knowledge
  • Aptitude at Excel and wrestling techniques a distinct advantage
  • Awareness of national security situation in Sweden beneficial
  • Better understanding of global politics than Donald Trump. Which won’t exclude many.

Education, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Being multi-lingual is a distinct advantage – particularly if you specialise in decoding Trumpisms
  • Ideal candidate would have a good knowledge of which one’s Melania and which one’s Ivanka
