Following the announcement that Republican Presidential nominee candidates Ted Cruz and John Kasich had conceded GOP party representation to Donald J Trump, Betfair’s online exchange has recorded its lowest price on ‘Trump taking the White House’!

The Betfair exchange currently prices the controversial New Yorker at 3.7 to become the next US President. At current market pricing Betfair detailed that Trump had a 27% chance of winning the 2016 US General Elections.

Trump became the surprise favourite for Republican Nominee on the 13th January having been backed as high as 340 (339/1) on the Betfair exchange in February 2015.

Naomi Totten, Spokeswoman for Betfair, said: “With Cruz out of the running, there is no barrier to prevent Trump from becoming Republican Nominee and the businessman is now as short as 1/25, which equates to a 96% chance, to go up against Hilary Clinton in the presidential race.

“As it stands, Hilary Clinton remains the clear favourite to be the next President, with the market currently predicting a 71% likelihood for the Democrat. Trump will not go down without a fight however and on Wednesday morning traded at his shortest price of 3.6, or a 28% chance.”

Betfair – Next US President

  • Hilary Clinton           1.39 (2/5 or 71% likelihood)
  • Donald Trump          3.7 (11/4 or 27% likelihood)
  • Bernie Sanders         80 (79/1 or 1% likelihood)
