Online gaming operator Betway has agreed a deal to remain as title sponsor of snooker’s UK Championship for an additional two years. Under the agreement, the tournament will continue to be known as the Betway UK Championship for its 2016 and 2017 editions.
Betway first took on the role as title sponsor for the tournament at last year’s event, which took place from November 24 to December 6 at York Barbican and was won by Australia’s Neil Robertson. The Australian defeated Liang Wenbo 10-5 in the first ever UK Championship final without a British player.
Barry Hearn, World Snooker Chairman, said: “There were many fantastic moments at this season’s event, broadcast to hundreds of millions of fans around the world, and the Betway team were clearly very pleased with the exposure achieved for their brand.”
Alan Alger, PR Manager at Betway, added: “After Betway’s incredibly exciting and successful inaugural sponsorship of the UK Championship, we look forward to two more years.”
