Ahead of the upcoming primaries and this year’s US Presidential election, British bettors are focussing their political bets on Donald Trump to fail on his White House ambitions for US 2016.

Betting exchange Matchbook today has informed that over £1 million  worth of bets for Trump to fail in his bid to succeed Barack Obama.

At present Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton is the favourite to win, and should this happen she’d become the 45th US president and, notably, the country’s first female president.

Clinton is currently at 7/10 to win the election, despite not yet being confirmed at the democratic party candidate.  The lay market though has been the most successful with numerous bettors with Matchbook refusing to believe Trump will win the race to the White House.

The elections do not begin until November, and so Matchbook are expecting a great deal more US political betting. Regardless of who wins the nomination Matchbook customers are saying the Democrats have 58% chance of winning with Republicans on 42%.
