The German Betting Association (Deutscher Sportwettenverband – DSWV), has announced operators William Hill and bet-at-home as new members of its organisation.
Founded in 2014, the industry body aims to promote fair market and sector conditions for operators servicing the German sports betting consumers.
DSWV grows its member base as numerous political, media and sporting stakeholders urge for the Hesse Ministry to completely overhaul Germany’s national sports betting framework, which has failed to meet European Union business and competition standards.
DSWV officials stated that bet-at-home and William Hill would actively contribute to debating and setting the agenda for advancing sports betting in Germany.
Claus Retschitzegger, Head of Legal for bet-at-home welcomed DSWV membership;
“We will work as a member of the German Betting Association strengthened for a contemporary gambling law. As a licensee, in Schleswig-Holstein, we also welcome the current advance of the state of Hesse, which would enable all providers fair and lawful union market access with high player protection standard”
Michael Leadbeater, Head of William Hill’s Legal Department, commented on the German sports betting market;
“Successful regulation of the European sports betting markets based on the principles of an open market, a broad product range, commercially reasonable control systems and integration of the leading sports betting company. This ensures that consumers receive the one hand and on the other hand come in the protection of those comprehensive safety standards that ensure the well-known companies of their choice products and services. “
