Betfair appoints Wood & Dallaglio as Rugby World Cup Ambassadors

woodAhead of the start of the 2015 Rugby World Cup (kick-off Friday 18 September), Betfair has announced the appointment of rugby union legends Lawrence Dallaglio (former England captain) and Keith Wood (former Ireland captain) as its new ambassadors.

Fierce rivals on the rugby pitch, Dallaglio and Wood will knock heads once more, as they debate the tournaments hottest topics and give Betfair customers insights on rugby’s biggest tournament.

Betfair marketing announced that it will support its new ambassadors with exclusive video content, as they share their thoughts on the tournament’s progress.

Former England World Cup winning flanker, Lawrence Dallaglio OBE commented: “I’m really pleased to have the opportunity to work with Betfair during this year’s World Cup, it’s an exciting time and it’s great to be working alongside my old Lions teammate again. I was lucky enough to be part of the World Cup winning side in 2003 so the tournament holds a lot of very special memories for me which I’m looking forward to sharing throughout this project.”

Former World Player of the Year, Keith Wood commented: “I’m thrilled to be working with Betfair for this year’s World Cup. Having played in three world cups, I can say that this one certainly has the potential be the best one yet and is easily one of the most competitive since its inauguration in 1987.”

Stephen Mault, Head of Media, PR and Sponsorship at Betfair commented: “We are delighted to have two heroes of the sport on board with Betfair for the Rugby World Cup. They will provide our customers with a truly unique insight into both the sport and the tournament itself, having taken part in six between them. We’re looking forward to seeing what the tournament has in store for us and our new ambassadors will have plenty to say as the drama unfolds.”
