NBA gains equity partnership with FanDuel fantasy sports

Furthering its presence in the US sports market, daily fantasy sports operator FanDuel has announced that it has agreed an exclusive 4 year partnership with the NBA. As part of the high coverage agreement, the NBA will gain an equity stake in FanDuel, who are currently valued at $1 billion by venture analysts.

FanDuel CEO and Co-Founder Nigel Eccles commented on the NBA agreement

“Partnering with these NBA organizations has been an incredible asset to FanDuel’s growth and business.  NBA fans comprise a younger, mobile-centric demographic, looking for new ways to engage with their favorite sport, teams and athletes throughout the duration of the season, which is exactly what they get on FanDuel,”.

The agreement with the NBA will see FanDuel promoted throughout NBA media and marketing assets. FanDuel has further stated that it will aim to create the best match day experience for NBA and fantasy sports fans.

FanDuel will enter the 2015/2016 NBA season with a total of 13 franchise partnerships. FanDuel fantasy sports partners include

  • Charlotte Hornets,
  • Chicago Bulls,
  • Cleveland Cavaliers,
  • Dallas Mavericks,
  • Detroit Pistons,
  • Indiana Pacers,
  • Memphis Grizzlies,
  • Miami Heat,
  • Milwaukee Bucks,
  • Orlando Magic
  • Utah Jazz
