Australian online sports betting upstarts BetEasy, have won the rights to become official betting partner of the Australian Football League (AFL).

Marketing news sources report that BetEasy, paid AU $10 million for the betting rights, the term of contract will begin from the 2015/2016 AFL season, and will last a period of five years. BetEasy replaces Tabcorp’s TAB brand as official betting partner.

The deal will represent a major coup for BetEasy founder Matt Tripp, the pitch for AFL betting partner, has seen BetEasy beat competition from Tabcorp, William Hill Australia brands and SportsBet.

Tripp who acquired former Australian sports betting operator BetEzy in March 2014, and converted operations to BetEasy, is aiming to transform the Australian sports betting market by offering the best products and competitive prices for Australian sports betting consumers.

It shows we’re very serious and we’re here to stay and we’re delighted to align ourselves with what we think is Australia’s biggest sport,” Tripp commented. “We beat out some of the big European wagering firms and I think that is important to note. All our profits will stay here in Australia, so I hope punters will come to us for that reason.”

BetEasy is set to gain multi-content coverage from the AFL partnership deal. As betting partner, BetEasy will further gain coverage on AFL national broadcasters FoxTel and Seven West Media channels.
