Enjoy Chile to change GM leadership in 2025

The board of Enjoy SA has confirmed that Esteban Rigo-Righi will step down as General Manager of the Chilean gambling group on 31 December 2024.

The departure of Rigo-Righi was disclosed via a filing to the Chilean Financial Markets Commission (CMF) this week. The filing notified markets that Enjoy’s board has promoted Carolina Gálvez Fuentes, the current Head of Investor Relations, to succeed Rigo-Righi as General Manager.

Rigo-Righi, who has been with the company since 2010, held key positions including Planning and Management Control Manager, CFO, and CEO.

Appointed General Manager in 2024, Rigo-Righi led Enjoy through its judicial reorganisation as required by creditors in Chile and later recognized by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York in August 2024.

As part of the restructuring, Enjoy has divided its business into the new entities of: NewCo-1 will manage operations in Punta del Este, Uruguay, along with two real estate assets in Chile.

Creditors will allow “NewCo-2” will oversee casinos and hotels located in Rinconada, Antofagasta, Chiloé, Viña del Mar, Coquimbo, Pucón, and Puerto Varas. The remaining assets, including operations in San Antonio and Los Angeles, will remain under the management of Enjoy SA.

In 2023 Enjoy abandoned its plans to merge with Dreams SA, which would have created South America’s largest casino group. The deal was rejected following the FNE antitrust evaluation concerning the ownership of Chile’s municipal casino contracts. The scuppered deal saw Enjoy creditors trigger a reorganisation to divest assets.

Rigo-Righi’s departure comes as Enjoy faces legal challenges. The National Economic Prosecutor’s Office (FNE) has accused Enjoy, Dreams, and Marina del Sol of collusion in the bidding process for casino licenses. The FNE is seeking heavy fines and the return of these licenses.

Gálvez Fuentes’s promotion signals stability and a fresh approach for Enjoy. She will lead the company as it focuses on strengthening operations and addressing ongoing financial challenges.

In broader developments, focus  turns to Chile in 2025 as to whether the government can successfully introduce a new regulatory framework for land-based and online gambling. Planned since 2023, no progress was made in 2024 as existing monopolies of Loteria Concepción, Polla Chilena, Teletrak inundated Chilean courts with legal challenges against the proposed measures.
