The National Lottery is set to move to a new headquarters, maintaining and expanding its presence in the town of Watford (Hertfordshire).
This week, Allwyn UK, the National Lottery’s operating steward, announced that it had struck a deal with developer Regal Group to move the National Lottery’s operations to The Clarendon Works building.
The move will see the National Lottery relocate to a new 63,527 square foot office, which is due to open in the third quarter of 2024.
Media were informed that Allwyn had reserved “six floors of the Grade A speculative development,” choosing to locate the National Lottery in the centre of Watford.
Relocating its Watford HQ to the Clarendon Works, Allwyn will close the National Lottery’s former Tolpits Lane building, the home of the National Lottery’s operations since 1994, under the management of Camelot UK.
Allwyn detailed that the move to a new office is aligned with the National Lottery’s enhanced commitments on social value and net zero.
Clarendon Works is “100% powered by renewable energy, certified by Ofgem’s Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin scheme, and is targeting BREEAM Excellent and EPC A rating.” Furthermore, a new office was cited as essential for Allwyn in recruiting top talent to work on the National Lottery’s projects, helping to raise more money for National Lottery-funded projects.
Allwyn CEO, Andria Vidler, said: “The National Lottery and Watford go hand in hand, so we’re absolutely delighted to be relocating our home to a new site in the area.
This marks our commitment not only to Watford and the wonderful community here, but to our ambition to create a net zero National Lottery with a more modern, sustainable head office fit for our future plans.”
