Codere recruits Agustin Gonzalez to lead digitisation projects

Grupo Codere continues its senior management reorganisation by appointing Agustin Gonzalez as new Director of Technology and Digitalisation of the Spanish and LatAm gambling group.

Working directly with new Chief Executive Gonzaga Higuero, Gonzalez will spearhead the omni-channel digitisation projects for Codere across all core markets.

Branded a ‘seasoned tech strategist and transformation expert’, Gonzalez joins Codere’s executive team having formerly served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of AtresMedia – the owner of leading Spanish media platforms EuropaFM, Antena 3 and OndaCero.

Further experience has seen Gonzalez lead digitisation projects for MoviStar, Spain’s largest mobile telecoms group and pan-European security systems provider Prosegur.

Codere informed stakeholders: “Agustín González takes on the challenge of leading the company’s digital transformation, identifying opportunities where technology contributes to improving processes.

In addition, it will focus on the development and execution of a technological strategy aligned with the group’s general objectives, ensuring that technology is a lever for generating value.”

Under the leadership of Gonzaga Higuero (CEO), Codere has entered a new phase of corporate restructuring of its Spanish and South American businesses.

Temporary venue closures in Argentina and Mexico saw Codere declare H1 interim losses of €187m. H1 trading saw the group’s cash on balance sheet shrink by €80m to €45m.

Despite the negative result, Codere leadership reaffirmed that the business would not sell any of its international units operating in in Italy and Argentina, Mexico, Uruguay, Colombia and Panama.
