Manchester United has this morning announced the appointment of Cliff Baty as its new Chief Financial Officer.
Baty joins the Premier League club, having led racing operator Sportech Plc’s financial operations as group CFO since 2013. Baty further served as a member of the Board of Director’s for the betting operator.
A gaming and leisure veteran, Baty has held senior management positions at Ladbrokes (Finance Director of Ladbrokes International – 2007 – 2013) and Hilton Group Plc (Financial Controller).
Ed Woodward, Manchester United Executive Vice Chairman confirmed the appointment to the media ;
“We are very pleased to welcome Cliff to the Club,”
“He is a proven finance executive who brings a wealth of international business experience, and will be an excellent addition to our senior management team.”
Separately, Sportech noted that Baty’s contract with Sportech has a notice period of 12 months, but his actual departure date will be confirmed in due course. In the meantime, he will continue with his existing responsibilities and the search for his successor, both internally and externally, has now commenced.
