William Hill refunds fox hunting wagers following vote postponement

foxhuntingWilliam Hill has confirmed that it has refunded all bets on the fox hunting vote that was due to take place this week, after the government postponed it until at least the Autumn.

“The voting landscape in the Autumn could be very different with Scottish MPs potentially having less influence on English laws. The SNP has scuppered Cameron’s calls for relaxation on fox hunting law, but they may not have the power to do so later in the year.”

Prior to the close and refund of betting on the vote this week, William Hill priced No as the 1/2 favourite – in other words, a rejection of proposals to use unlimited dogs in English and Welsh Hunts.

William Hill have now opened a new market on amendments to the 2004 Hunting Act by the end of the year. Allowing unlimited dogs in English and Welsh Hunts is now the odds-on favourite at 8/11.

“A new vote on changing the fox hunting laws in England and Wales will not be allowed to take place until the government feel they can win,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “It means if a vote does take place this year, ‘Yes’ now has to be the favourite.”
