With the majority of British bookmakers focusing their general content and commentary on the upcoming UK General Election on 7 May. It appears that the bookmaking industry has forgotten the question on all the British public’s mind – “Will it be a hot and sunny British Summer”!
Brave bookmaker William Hill seems to think so, as the bookmaker anticipates a hose pipe ban in 2015. Yesterday the bookmaker revealed that it had suspended betting on a hose pipe ban as temperatures rocketed for April.
The bookmaker alerted the UK media and public with the following statement
“Britain’s biggest bookmaking company slashed the odds on Sunday from 5-1 to 3-1 for there to be a hose pipe ban, but with thermometers peaking in to the red, the firm are dousing a potential betting inferno by closing the market.”
“We don’t want to be burned with bets on a ban,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. It’s getting hotter and hotter and those who have already had a bet on the ban look home and hosed.”
