The Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) management board have elected Xavier Hurstel as corporate President and Chief Executive. Hurstel replaces Philppe Germond who resigned from the position of Chief Executive last month to join European car rental operator Europcar.
Hurstel has served a PMU Deputy Chief Executive since 2008, and had overseen various financial projects for the French horse racing operator.
PMU stakeholders and betting governing bodies France Galop and Cheval Francais are said to have approved the appointment of Hurstel.
Hürstel commented on his appointment:
“The trust that the members of the general assembly have shown me will enable me to pursue the group’s transformation through the implementation of the PMU 2020 roadmap which we have been working towards for the past two years.
I know I can rely on all PMU teams to take up the forthcoming challenges – transformation and digitisation of the retail network, international development, – and contribute to the development of the horse racing industry.”
