Shelbourne Park gears up for the Irish Greyhound Derby

boyleshorsesTipperary GAA fans arrived in their hundreds at Shelbourne Park not only to celebrate the eve of the All Ireland Hurling Final, but also the semi-finals of the Boylesports.com Irish Greyhound Derby 2014.

And their support worked a treat as Tipperary based trainer Michael O’Donovan’s representative Laughil Blake was fastest as he turned in another superb performance and now stands as the favourite for the final night on the 13th September.

But there was another terrific story as the two veteran trackers Tyrur Sugar Ray (trained by PJ Fahy) and Ballymac Vic (trained by Liam Dowling) both qualified for Saturday’s showdown. This will be the third time that Ballymac Vic races in the final six, an amazing feat in itself.

The night also provided a career highlight for Ballymacelligott breeder and trainer Liam Dowling as he saw his two runners finish first and third to claim their places. Javier Jarne owned Vulturi took first spot and Ballymac Vic bagged the last of the spots.

Final for The Boylesports.com Irish Greyhound Derby:

  1.  TYRUR SUGAR RAY
  2. EMERS SUPERSTAR
  3. BALLYMAC VIC
  4. VULTURI
  5. BORNEO (M)
  6. LAUGHIL BLAKE (W)
