Spanish gambling operator CIRSA, posted a strong start to 2014 reporting an operating profit of €75.9 million (£62.2 million), the figures represented a 9% increase on year-on-year performance.
During the opening quarter CIRSA witnessed a revenue increase of 16.3% posting €390 million in revenues (£319 million)
Chief Executive Officer Manuel Lao, highlighted new land based expansions in Spain and Latin America as key drivers for the operators growth. CIRSA had witnessed new casino and gaming hall operations under its Sportium brand come to fruition in the region of Catalunya.
Lao further highlighted the improved performance of its bingo halls, as the operator undertook new gambling strategies to maximise retail space value. Sportium retail gambling halls now offer multiple gaming channels for its customers.
Lao commented “the most important changes have been have been made in the betting houses to date. Cirsa trusts its staff and management continue to fulfill its objectives, despite the challenging economic context in Spain and devaluations in Latin America.”
CIRSA will look to continue its strong start, by targeting strong performance in the upcoming World Cup in Brazil
