eSports operator Vulcun withdraws from Nevada

vulcanFantasy eSports firm, Vulcun, have announced that they are withdrawing their services from the state of Nevada, and have moved to bar all state residents from playing in its paid fantasy leagues and tournaments.

This news follows the decision of Nevada Gambling  Commission to classify the act of playing daily fantasy sports as gambling, meaning that it is now regarded in the same light as traditional sports betting.

As such companies must now secure state gambling licenses before being allowed to offer such services. Although a competitive eSports platform, Vulcan governance has pre-empted any future state penalisation of its services, and will not contest Nevada state policies.

This is part of a wider US scrutiny of the fantasy sports operators, with the focus having been on the major players of DraftKings and FanDuel, two companies which have only added eSports to their offerings relevantly recently.

Vulcun is a popular fantasy eSports site which offers paid fantasy leagues for games including Dota 2, League of Legends and CS:GO.
