Riot Games restrictions see Betway end Ninja’s in Pyjamas sponsorship

Betway marketing has decided to part ways with professional esports team Ninja’s in Pyjamas (NiP), following the news that esports games developer & tournament organiser Riot Games will no longer permit betting advertising within its syndicated events.

Seeking to boost its esports profile, last September Betway become the lead sponsor of Team NiP, at the time signing the biggest pro-team sponsorship in esports history.

However, marketing restrictions forced by Riot Games the developer of the League or Legends game and event organiser of the ‘League of Legends World Championships’ and ‘LoL Championship Series’, has seen the parties scale down its partnership.

Riot Games event rules state that any services or products “Containing any material constituting or relating to any activities which are illegal in any League region, including but not limited to, a lottery or an enterprise, service or product that abets, assists or promotes gambling”.

Betway marketing will still work with NiP, the company detailed that it was committed to sponsoring the esports team for upcoming CS:GO tournaments.
