Coral becomes title sponsor for home nations snooker series

Coral has agreed to become title sponsor of the World Snooker home nations series, in a deal which covers the three remaining events of 2016-17.

barry-hearnThe remainder of the Coral Home Nations Series will comprise the Northern Ireland Open, Scottish Open and Welsh Open. The bookmaker was also the title sponsor of the series’ opener, the English Open, which took place in Manchester from October 10-16.

The Northern Ireland Open will get underway on November 14, whilst the week-long Scottish Open will conclude a week before Christmas Day. Meanwhile, the Welsh Open will be in Cardiff from February 13-19, which comes just a week after a ‘seeding cut’ off from the world rankings.

Barry Hearn, World Snooker Chairman, said: “We are thrilled to have Coral on board for all four tournaments, and to have their brand associated with this new series.”

Simon Clare, PR Director at Coral, added: “The addition of the sponsorship of the Coral Home Nations Series, and the Coral English, Welsh, Northern Ireland and Scottish Open’s that make up the series, to our existing sponsorship of the Coral Snooker Shootout, is testimony to the popularity and appeal of the sport of snooker amongst all sports fans, and to how professional and enthusiastic the World Snooker team are to work with.”

Just last week, and following 18 months of negotiations, the merger of Coral with Ladbrokes was finally completed, with the new enterprise officially adopting the corporate name of Ladbrokes Coral Plc.
