Sportradar Group CEO Carsten Koerl will be supported by three regional CEOs in a company reorganisation, effective from 1 January 2021.
The new setup, explained Sportradar, provides it with more flexibility to support future growth, while enabling the business to operate in closer proximity to its end markets.
The three new regional CEOs will be Arne Rees (North America), Werner Becher (UK/EMEA and LatAm) and Eduard Blonk (Asia Pacific, APAC).
Rees is based in New York and Blonk in Las Vegas, while Becher – only confirmed as the Managing Director of US Betting in October of last year – will be based in Vienna.
Sportradar confirmed that Blonk will lead the APAC region on an interim basis, supported by Michael Maerz as his deputy based in Manila. Blonk has also been appointed as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), a role that will encompass the global sales organisation as well as the teams in Sports Content & Partnerships and Integrity Services.
In addition to the regional CEOs and Blonk as CCO, five other C-level staff will report to Koerl – Chief Product Officer (CPO) for Betting & Gaming Warren Murphy, CPO for Sports Entertainment Rainer Geier, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Ben Burdsall, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Alex Gersh and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) Ulrich Harmuth.
“As the leading sports technology and innovation business in sports betting and sports entertainment, Sportradar is fully committed to delivering an unmatched experience to our customers and partners,” said Koerl.
“Our updated structure will increase our levels of customer intimacy, agility and overall responsiveness, while also leveraging our tremendous global scale. This reorganisation is a critical step for the future growth of the business, and we will continue to ambitiously set the bar high in the industry.”
