Updating the market, FTSE online gambling group GVC Holdings has confirmed the launch of its Russian market property bwin.ru.
bwin.ru becomes the first non-Russian online betting brand to be fully licenced and operated in the country.
GVC launches its new market vertical in partnership with Russian technology and media publishing firm Rambler&Co, an enterprise which is majority owned by Russian billionaire financier Alexander Mamut.
Last June, Russian media sources reported that GVC governance was preparing to launch a Russian joint-venture, seeking to become the first international operator to join the regulated online gambling regime.
bwin.ru will be operated by Digital Betting LLC a subsidiary led by Dmitry Sergeev as General Director and CEO of bwin Russia

Entering the Russian market, bwin.ru will compete against seven licensed bookmakers; Liga Stavok, Winline, 888.ru, 1XBet, Leon.ru, Marathonbet.ru and BKfon.ru
