Microsoft and ESL team up for Xbox Live esports tournaments

It has been revealed that esports league ESL and Microsoft are working together to ensure that ESL tournaments can soon be integrated on the Xbox Live tournaments platform. xbox

This move will allow companies to organise events within their games through Xbox Live.

This is one small step for esports, and one giant leap for console esports titles and tournament providers.

This new partnership will allow both developers and publishers simple and automated access to live tournaments in addition to giving them the ability to take tournament logistics into their own hands.

Arne Peters Vice President of ESL technology said: “The tournament experience on ESL platforms looks to see a significant increase thanks to our partnership with Microsoft. ESL platform integration is a big step forward in establishing competitive gaming and esports.”

He continued: “We are very happy to be working with Microsoft on projects such and these and are excited to see them embrace the significance of esports and its phenomenal growth.”

The first games which’ll use the ESL tournament platform on Xbox Live will reportedly be announced soon. A statement on the site says that “The ESL tech team is currently preparing to assist developers in getting their games ready for tournament integration.”
