European sports betting operator Betsson AB has announced that CEO and President Magnus Silfverberg is set to step down. Betsson confirmed that Silfverberg will be temporarily replaced by his executive predecessor Pontus Lindwall, who will lead Betsson AB until a successor is found.

Silfverberg leaves Betsson operations after six years’ service, of which had led the company as CEO from 2011 to 2015. Silfverberg will officially step down following the presentation of the operator’s H1 2015 performance results (scheduled for 17 July)

Pontus Lindwall returns to Betsson operations to oversee the change in company governance and leadership. Lindwall has served as Betsson Executive Chairman of the Board since July 2011.

While Lindwall serves as CEO, he will be replaced as Excutive Chairman by board member Lars Linder-Aronson.

Betsson governance paid tribute to Silfverberg leadership as CEO, stating that he had thoroughly contributed to the operators dynamic strategy and in establishing the company as a leader in European sports betting and igaming.

Silfverberg commented on his departure from the operator

“Iam proud of the journey we have made, and it has not been an easy decision to leave Betsson. However, I am leaving a company in top shape with a very strong culture, and I have great confidence that Betsson will continue to develop well in the future.”
