Mark Brooker steps up as Betfair COO

Betfair have confirmed the promotion of Mark Brooker to Chief Operating Officer, Brooker steps up from his previous position as Director of Sports Betting.

Brooker has been involved within Betfair operations for more than five years, looking after sports betting initiatives and corporate development for the operator. Betfair’s appointment of Brooker, will see him become responsible for the performance and development of Betfair igaming inventory. Key tasks will include the implementation of Betfair’s new sportsbook.

Betfair is looking to expand its operations in regulated European markets, the operator launched its sports betting exchange for the Italian betting market, and is currently studying market entry for other jurisdictions. Brooker will play a key part in forming the operators future strategy.

Betfair began 2014 strongly, reporting a 28% increase in underlying EBITDA for the three month period ending 31 January 2014.
