Five-a-side teams featuring players from some of the sports betting industry’s leading operators, suppliers, affiliates and media organisations will be taking part in the inaugural SBC Global Championship at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday 22 May.
Supported by headline sponsor Trustly Group, the eight-team tournament played out in Chelsea kits will be officiated by former FIFA and Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher.
Club legend Graeme Le Saux, who made 250 league appearances for the Blues and collected 36 caps for England between 1994 and 2000, will be in charge of the pre-tournament draw and playing for one of the teams.
Besides the coveted SBC Global Championship trophy, winners will take home fantastic prizes such as a VIP Box day at Stamford Bridge during one of the 18/19 season games.
The tournament, rounded off by a networking event at The Jam Tree in Chelsea, will also feature a pitch-side barbecue after the group phase, before attention turns to the SBC Global Championship semi-finals and final from 16:00.
Le Saux said: “SBC continues to unite the vibrant sports betting industry with social events such as this. I was proud to put my name to the SBC Global Championship, and I’m looking forward to getting the boots out to play at my favourite football stadium.”
SBC Founder and CEO Rasmus Sojmark commented: “SBC is always looking for ways to strengthen the industry community, and the SBC Global Championship is a great example of that. Football and fun at Stamford Bridge will stay with you forever when you get to share it with industry friends and colleagues.”
