GiG expands News Corp partnership to cover Ireland

Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has secured a significant commercial upgrade to its existing content partnership with News Corp Limited.

Since December 2022, GiG’s media division has led the editorial of sports betting and online casino content for News Corp’s flagship The Sun and talkSPORT properties.

Following a ‘successful launch’ that has exceeded partnership expectations, News Corp announced that GiG media services will be expanded to support its Irish media channels. As such, The Irish Sun’s website now features a dedicated hub for all betting-related content, allowing readers to access everything in one place.

The partnership is expanded as the Irish tri-party government moves to relaunch its gambling marketplace, having approved the binding terms of the Gambling Regulation Bill.

A joint-statement read: GiG and News Corp UK & Ireland Limited are working towards entering further new markets, starting with the lucrative US market by the end of Q1 2023.”

The partnership sees GiG continue to expand its ‘fast growth’ media unit, which this week concluded its €45m acquisition of heritage online gambling community AskGamblers.com.

The M&A deal was concluded last week as GiG informed investors that it had begun a ‘strategic review’, to evaluate the potential split of its fast-growth media unit from its standard Platform and Sportsbook business.
