Close to HOME…William Hill launches first ever ‘International Community Week’

FTSE-listed William Hill hosted its first ever ‘International Community Week’ in which employees across eight countries in four continents spent the week of 20-26th volunteering for local charities.

The charity week was part of the company’s community and social initiative, ‘Close to HOME’, in which William Hill looks to support the local communities where its business properties are based.

William Hill employees from Australia, Poland, US, Israel, UK, Philippines, Gibraltar & Bulgaria volunteered their time to local charities.

In the UK, Retail staff across the country supported a range of charities including the Retired Greyhound Trust in Canterbury, Batley Foodbank, KIND in Liverpool and Merseyside M.A.F.I.A, a local initiative in Blackpool. In Haringey, colleagues spent some time painting and decorating at 2 different local charities, MIND in Haringey and Bikes for Good Causes.

International projects included a team in Sydney cooking meals to distribute to those in need, Nevada colleagues sort books for Spread the Word Nevada which aims to improve literacy in schools,  and a team in Manila organising football sessions for kids from a local charity.

Bill South, William Hill’s Group Director of Security and Community Affairs, commented on his firm’s social initiative: ‘It’s been a fantastic International Community Week for the company with so many colleagues taking part. Throughout the week our William Hill colleagues worldwide have demonstrated outstanding commitment and passion in supporting their local communities with a huge range of inspiring projects.’
