One of the founders of GeoLotto, a location-based instant-win game supplier, has described the company’s first major jackpot winner as a major event both for the company and the player.
Roy Tyler from Leighton Buzzard in England won the first £1m cash jackpot prize last month, paid out from GeoLotto’s weekly Saturday draw after betting on his old hometown of Watford.
Henry Oakes, co-founder of Geonomics, commented: “We’re delighted to announce our first GeoLotto millionaire, this is a major event for both Geonomics and for Roy! The deeper emotional value people associate with places is at the core of all of our games. We’re really pleased that one man’s old hometown has now made him a millionaire.”
GeoLotto is an online lotto game powered by Google Maps. It is played on an interactive map converted into a giant game-board that’s divided into location squares. Players choose squares to ‘own’ at £1 per play and winning squares are chosen at random. Roy placed his £1 bet on his old hometown of Watford to win the top million pound prize.
James Oakes, MD of GeoLotto, added: “Our first million pound winner is a milestone for GeoLotto, and it’s just incredible that our game fitted so perfectly with Roy’s vision! You don’t need to be psychic to stand a chance with our big money payouts – all our players have the opportunity to win up to £1 million every single week simply by picking their own Lucky Place.”
