Child steps down from Rank Group

childsbcRank Group owners of gambling operators – Mecca Bingo and Grosvenor casinos have announced the departure of Senior Independent Director – Colin Child.

Child resigned from his position with immediate effect, and will also step down from his position on the company’s board. Rank have not made public Child’s reasons for leaving the company.

Childs (55) had been appointed by Rank Group as Senior Independent Director in January 2012. As Group Finance Director for De La Rue,  commercial security printing and papermaking, Childs had experience in operating multi national businesses.

Ian Burke, chairman and chief executive of Rank Group, is to lead the search for a new Senior Independent Director and will make a further announcement when a successor has been found.

“On behalf of the board of Rank I would like to thank Colin for his commitment and hard work during his time with Rank,” Burke said. “The board is extremely sorry to see him go.”
