The Dutch Online Gambling Association (NOGA) will be headed by a new Director from July onwards.
Peter-Paul de Goeij, the man currently sitting in this post, will step down from the role and hand over the interim directorial duties to Eric Konings, who’s been with NOGA since 2022.
“The past few years have been hectic, with the opening of the Dutch online gambling market as the absolute highlight. I am now stepping down but I am convinced that the sector will continue to make an effort to offer a safe and responsible game. That is and remains the best way to achieve optimal consumer protection,” de Goeij said.
“I thank the board of NOGA for the trust it has placed in me over the past five years and confidently hand it over to Eric.”
The new development was also commented on by Konings, who said: “In the current political and social climate, the industry faces a number of major challenges, and I look forward to helping NOGA members with this.
“In addition, NOGA emphatically orients itself on how the advocacy of the industry can be organised in a future-proof way. I am glad that Frans van Steenis is fulfilling the role of explorer to shape this process with me.”
NOGA will continue its focus on a strategic internal reorientation to better address the challenges in the sector and shape the market’s vision for the future.
Remko de Boer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NOGA, added: “We are very grateful to Peter-Paul for his commitment over the past 5 years, in which he has exquisitely shaped the transformation from Speel Verantwoord to NOGA. As a result, NOGA has been able to represent the interests of its members well, in a tumultuous period for the industry.
“We are confident that this line will continue under Eric as interim director. However, we do expect that the coming period will not be less superious. That is why we as the board have decided to initiate the strategic reorientation.”
